Lion Monument, Switzerland

Thursday, October 30, 2014

Lion monument or Löwendenkmal also known as the most mournful and moving peice of rock on earth. It is carved in the momory of those brave Swiss soldiers who were massacred during the French revolution.
A wounded lion, so strong yet so vulnerable, the sculpture is beautiful. Situated over a pond and surrounded by rocks and trees from all sides, it is still located in the central part of the city.

How to Go: Get down at Lucerne (Just 1-2 hours by train from Basel or Zurich), ask for a map of the city from tourist office on the station. The Lion monument is just a 10 min walk from the Lucerne station.

What Next : Lucerne is a beautiful city with lots of places to visit. Visit the old town, the wooden bridge or go for a cruize on the Luzern lake.
